Elation… Bringing age-old wisdom to a whole new take on falling in love. A stroll with McGoo

When I looked at the caller ID on the phone and got that tingly feeling all over I realized that, which I have been trying so hard to deny for a while, was indeed a fact… I am in love. Actually, I have known it since the day I met her but tried my best to deny it.  Deep down inside I think she realizes this to, as I am fairly transparent when it comes to some matters.

Due to the age difference I fully realize that nothing will ever come of this, and I am as comfortable with that as I can be.

What is important, is that the void in my soul that wants to love someone is filled. I truly believe that everyone needs to be in love with someone. The fact that I have fallen in love with a person that is not in love with me and never will be, is something I am cool with. One can only expect so much in a lifetime.

There is a lot more to being in love than sex, or intimacy. Love is a condition, a state of being that lifts and rejuvenates ones soul.

Ironically we are in the process of forming a friendship that, with luck will endure, and that is all I can ask or expect. I know many married couples who are not now , nor have they ever been friends. Their relationships are based on the superficial aspects of life.

In the waning years of my life I feel that to be able to have the feelings I do for this person is a true blessing. If it were to end tomorrow, while I would be saddened,  I would also be comforted knowing that for a period of time there was someone I was (and likely still would be) willing to move mountains for, and ask or expect nothing in return.

If you ever find yourself in this position, don’t be sad, don’t fight or deny it; instead cherish it and savor every moment, for moments like this come along way too seldom in one’s life.

The old fool McGoo  says goodbye till the next time.

Vonda, no, sorry to say I have let McGoo hang out to dry too long. I need to get back into that mode and generate more “ism’s”. At one time I was considering a coffee table book of the principles of McGooism. May still do it. Ron

AND WE’RE BACK. I like this one so much. The first time I read it, I couldn’t indentify, but I now know what you mean, the feeling that you can be in love or at least the feeling of meeting someone who makes ya understand that you are able to, whether or not anything comes of it. Very nice!

Vonda, like most of the McGooisms, it takes a while to sink in. And in many cases if you haven’t walked that mile, it may never register. I try to make people think outside the box when they get involved with “McGoo”. I still think it would make a great coffee table book. My problem is time. I am generally going about 10 directions usually till about 3:00-4:00 AM and up at 06:00 for the morning 2 meter commo net. Then it’s off to the races.

HI Ron. Okay, don’t freak out but I just found McGoo again. Yeah, I know you’re not going to freak out, but I am. Still am. I haven’t associated with my wordpress in a long time, decided to go to the page, and was locked out. I got a new password and now I find that I have no page. No posts, nothing. Well, except a notice from you talking about trying to make people think outside the box when it comes to McGooisms. I’m thinking that I have a Google WordPress with the same email addy, which gives me two of ’em, and I never knew it. I do miss your McGooisms. I hope you’re doing well!

Doing great, and yep, back in love again. You’d think at 76 rapidly approaching 77 I’d get over this foolishness, but truth be known, I don’t want to. There is precious little to look forward to in life, you might as well live every minute like it is your last, as one of them will be. As
I was telling Kim just the other day, the only thing that is sure, is every morning when you wake up you’re going to be a day older. It is our call what kind of day we want it to be.
